Metro Health Hospital Foundation Announces Summer Grants
The Metro Health Hospital Foundation has approved more than $74,000 in grants to support educational programs and services provided by the Hospital.
GRAND RAPIDS, MI, September 30, 2011 /Health and Fitness PR News/ -- The Metro Health Hospital Foundation has approved more than $74,000 in grants to support educational programs and services provided by the Hospital.
Five grants ranging from $540 to $40,000 will support a wide variety of initiatives, including the purchase of new educational equipment, continuing diabetes education programs and a free community-wide peripheral arterial disease health-screening event to assist in the early detection of PAD.
The 2011 summer grants include:
• Purchase of a manikin and simulator for discerning and differentiating cardiac rhythms, which will allow physicians to increase speed and quality of performance in emergency codes and defibrillations. This teaching tool helps care providers to gain competency in complex trauma scenarios to improve patient outcomes.
• Funding for a surgical simulator for residency education in temporal bone lab training for the ear, nose and throat residency program.
• A free, community-wide health screening on Oct. 8 to detect peripheral arterial disease. Early detection of PAD increases positive outcomes for patients. The hospital will also offer a seminar on Oct. 6.
• Providing tuition coverage for diabetic patients in need of financial assistance in order to attend diabetic education sessions in order to better manage their disease.
