San Francisco Child Abuse Prevention Center Hosts "Munchkin Kids Fun Run" at San Francisco Marathon
Event to Encourage Kids of All Ages to Participate in Outdoor Activity to Benefit Local Children and Families
SAN FRANCISCO, CA, July 27, 2011 /Health and Fitness PR News/ -- The San Francisco Child Abuse Prevention Center (SFCAPC) invites the community to participate in the Munchkin Kids Fun Run taking place at the annual San Francisco Marathon on Sunday, July 31 at 9:00 a.m.
The event, designed to encourage physical fitness among children of all ages, will feature the 1 mile, 1/2 mile and the 100 yard dash. Funds raised from the race will support child abuse prevention programs at the SFCAPC.
"Our Munchkin Kids Fun Run is a great way to teach kids about fitness while giving everyone in the family a chance to support our community," said Katie Albright, Executive Director of the San Francisco Child Abuse Prevention Center. "With the money we raise at the event, we can improve our counseling, educational programs and other supportive services, and continue our efforts to prevent child abuse and help parents raise happy and healthy children."
The Munchkin Kids Fun Run will start and end on the Embarcadero at Mission Street. All competitors will receive a runner's bib with their name on it, a signature medal for finishing, t-shirts, food and drinks after the race at the Munchkin Festival. All participants must pre-register at a cost of $25 and parents are encouraged to help the Center fundraise by gathering pledges for their children from families and friends. Parents may also register their children at the San Francisco Marathon Expo Friday and Saturday, July 29 and 30, at the Concourse Exhibition Center, 7th and Brannan Streets, San Francisco.
